‘Fruits and Vegetables Day’ was celebrated in Paavai Vidhyashram Nursery and primary School at Salem on 13/09/2017. The whole campus was decorated with cut-outs of Fruits and Veggies. Real fruits and Vegetables were exhibited in the function hall. The atmosphere looked so colourful filled with delectable aroma of fruits.
Tiny Tots of LKG depicted as fruits like orange, apple, banana, Jackfruit etc. delivered the goodness of eating such fruits in their sweet voice. Kids of UKG dressed as vegetables like potato, bitter gourd, brinjal, beetroot etc., told us about the significance of eating vegetables daily. Students of class I and II, narrated a skit titled ‘Junk Monster’, to emphasize the harmful effects of junk foods like pizza, burger, fried rice, carbonated drinks etc. They also threw light on the health benefits of consuming fruits and Vegetables. The skit was liked by everyone.
The Function was presided over by Dr.C.Satish, Director, Paavai Group of Schools. The children welcomed their Director with a fruit basket made by them. In his speech, he appreciated the Headmistress and the team of teachers for their excellent work of the students with a special appreciation to our Art master Mr. Raja for his tremendous hard work. Director, during his speech requested the parents to adopt three mantras while dealing with the children, they are
1. Accept – to accept a child as they are and never compare them with others.
2. Adjust – to adjust to the child’s level of understanding
3. Appreciate – to praise and appreciate a child even for small achievement or a good behavior.
Director also mentioned that through constant support by parents and teachers, even a slow learner or a hyperactive child can be made to attain good results in academics. He narrated a few incidents from his own experience to emphasize the above point.
Many parents attended the function with eagerness and they were full of appreciations for the children and team of teachers. Mrs.Sridevipriya, nursery teacher proposed the vote of thanks.
In the afternoon, all the fruits which the children have brought from home were washed, cut and made as a fruit salad which all the children relished very much.
