Fancy Dress Competition was held on 16/03/2018 (Friday) at Paavai Vidhyashram Nursery and Primary School, Salem in the presence of our Director Dr.C.Satish.Children depicted Godly characters Lord Krishna, Lord Muruga, National Leaders such as Nehru, Jansi Rani Lakshmi Bai, Barathiyar, Vivekanandha, Avvaiyar, Subhash Chandra Bose, APJ Abdul Kalam and so on. Some students dressed up like characters such as Farmer, Milkman, Doctor , IPS officer, Pilot, Army Jawan, Bharat Mata, Ramp Walk Model, etc. Famous personalities like Kalpana Chawla, Albert Einstein, Chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, Formula one car racer Narain Karthikeyan, Activist Malala, Mark Zuckerberg, Mukesh Ambani were also depicted by the kids. Cartoon characters like Spiderman, Dora and Chota Bheem were also a part of the show.Children highlighted the eminent characters through their costume makeup and properties. They delivered short speeches about the famous personalities.Dr.C.Satish, Paavai Group of Schools appreciated the efforts taken by the Headmistress, teachers, students and their parents to make this show a very grand success. He emphasized the need to have a Holistic education which includes performing arts like dancing, music, drama etc. He also pointed out the initiative by the CBSE to cut down the heavy load of academics on the children and inclusion of fine arts in the curriculum from next academic year.Mrs. Anupama Naresh, Senior Dance teacher and Mrs.Zubedha Senior teacher of Primary classes at Paavai Main School Namakkal were the judges for the competition. Mrs.Sridevi and Mrs.Srividya, KG teachers proposed the welcome address and vote of thanks respectively.Children who performed excellently were awarded cups and certificates. All participants were given trophies as a token of recognition. The function came to an end with National Anthem.The event was attended by all the parents. Grandparents and some relatives also came as audience. All parents appreciated the fluent speech in English by the students and expressed happiness over their wards’ performance. Such events not only showcase the potentials of the children but also act as platforms for communicating with the parents.
